About Us

All are welcome to our Free Concert on September 10th, 2017
Blacktown Country Music Club had its’ Inaugural Meeting at the Doonside (N.S.W) Neighborhood Centre on Saturday 25th February 1988.
Twenty-five people attended and a committee formed as follows:-

Lila Stenhouse (President); Noel Green (Vice President & chairman); Mary Napier (Treasurer); Laurie Scicluna (Secretary); Rose Grafton (Tour Organiser);

Social Committee:- Judy Innes; Mel Burke; Colin Blott.

Members:- Margaret Green, Kevin Innes, Ray Wallace, Max & Margaret Smith, John Stenhouse, Shane Day, Marion Pallazzi, Marion & Gordon Hogg, Evon &Tyrine Boome, Con & Evy Vandenbrink.

Children:- Melanie & David Hogg, Jannie Laming.

At the conclusion of the Election of Officers, an ordinary meeting was held to set out rules for the Club, which became known as the constitution. All members were entitled if they so wished to a copy of these rules.

Over the years, many members have come and gone. Some like myself moving Interstate, but always these have been replaced by others who have happily taken up the challenge of keeping our great little Club afloat. To those and the ones who will come after them I’d like to say Thank You!

I grew up with Country Music and you are the ones who are keeping the dream alive.

Sincerely
Lila Stenhouse
The Founder of Blacktown Country Music Club Inc.

Some of the Clubs that attended the Inter-Club Stampede held in 2015 indicated
they would like to have an event where Country Music Clubs could get together
without competition, enjoy the company of other Clubs, the talents of their
members and perform without stress. So our steering committee has decided to

run an event based on this premise Country Music Clubs’ Get Together
“Sweet Country” is born. It will be a two (2) day event held on 16th & 17th
September at Club Bargo.

All Country Music Clubs that attend will have members perform on the weekend.
Also musicians from your club will make up the band throughout the day.

This Club has great facilities, is approximately 20 Minutes from Campbelltown,
and 15 minutes from Mittagong.
There is a large Auditorium which the Club has given us free of charge for the
two days. The Club has a Great Bistro and all club facilities.

Possible Accommodation: -
A Motel next door.
A Caravan Park not very far away for those who would like to bring their caravan.
The caravan park also has cabins available.
There is also accommodation available in Campbelltown and Mittagong.
Further information regarding the Club and the accommodation available is attached.
It is the responsibility of those attending to arrange their own accommodation.

The details are as follows:
1. Gold Coin admission each day.
2. Saturday and Sunday all day planned walk up. (closer to the event when we know
how many clubs are participating we will tell you how much time your club will be
allocated over the two days) you are allowed to have as many performers as you wish,
however they may need to perform within the time allotted to your Club.
3. It is hoped that a number of junior members will participate, as it is felt that
the Junior Country Music performers need to be encouraged and heard.
4. The band will be made up from all participating clubs; therefore we will need to
know their names and the instruments that they play, as this will be planned into
the day.
5. All amplification will be supplied by Macarthur Country Music Club, including
Bass AMP, Keyboard, a set of drums and PA; with the exception of Guitar AMPS and Leads.
6. Saturday Night Concert you will choose two of your top artists to perform at the
concert. We would appreciate an indication from you of your interest in attending
this event by the Monday 31st July.
7. Because we are trialing new concepts at this event there will be time allocated
during the weekend (probably late Sunday morning) for a meeting of delegates from
all participating clubs to discuss what worked and what could be improved on. If
delegates are prepared we could also set up an interim committee for next year!
8. We will need the final details by Monday 21st August 2017.

It is envisaged that this will become an annual event and we hope your Club is
available to participate and enjoy this two (2) day “Sweet Country” Event.
Looking forward to hearing from you in the near future.

Yours in Country
